I think it absorbs into the softer sponge easier, but I don't know if it affects softer sponges more. I have a couple rubbers marked 48* and the EEII absorbed into them okay, but definitley slower than a softer ones. I'm curious to see what the effects are on a hard sponge.

EE II worked great on my soft sponge rubbers like BTY Sriver FX , Takiness drive and Takifire SP Soft - monster domes. It did OK, but not amazing on Reforma, Hammond X, and Pro Alpha.

I just put EEII on 2 rubbers for a new blade, having trouble keeping the rubbers on there though as the 2 rubbers curled up so much. (729 Cream MRS and 729 FasterIII) What brand of glue is recomended? Only glue I have is labelled "Haifu" in a green bottle, I got no idea if it is speed glue or regular glue. (new TT Player)

Am I able to use contact adhesive? (ie: Liquid Nails or similar? Perhaps spray on contact adhesive?) I dont plan on removing the rubbers once they are on the blade.

I've never heard of Haifu, not sure what it is. Do NOT use those things you mentioned, you will never be able to remove them, and will probably damage the blade if you try.

Try an art supply shop, and ask for 'rubber cement', which is like a thicker and stronger version of table tennis glue.

If you glue is already quite thick, you may just need a few more layers...

here is my experience of the EEII

here is an update to my gambler arylate carbon...

i used it in the INDIANA STATE Chamipionships..

had a good run, but lost to the 2006 state champion.. AJ BREWER..
he killed me 3 striaght.. 10-12, 11-6, 9-11... looked close but the youngster (14 years old) still killed me..

anyways.. i have many blades.. yasaka, juic, and LKT, etc... but so far i have played with this gambler arylate for the longest.. and it allowes me to swing hard off both sides...

i have had to switch away from the six shooter rubber because i just need the better control from the classic japanese rubbers. it seemed th six shooter was just too soft for my likings..

my current set up is torpedo glued for my FH and speedy spin preium on the BH..
Phamster

Are you still using the Gambler Arylate Carbon?
OH yes.. i love this Gambler blade.. BUT i had to make some basic tuning before i fell in love with this blade...

it came some what still to fast for my likings, i swing too hard, so i need just a tad more flex...

and it was just a hair heavy for me too...it weighed out 87 grams on my calibrated scale.. i work in a quality control dept, so i have access to a high level scale.. and we put a cover over it to keep the air movement from changing the readings of the grams.. down to the one hundreths..

but the blade oem came 87 grams..

so here is what i have done..

made it more flexible.. by shaving the throat down a little bit.. also that allowed me to hold it higher on the blade handle and more comfort too..

Image

and i had tom from zero pong drill out the handle to make it 4-6 grams lighter for over all weight improvement..

Image

tom will do it if you ask him kindly..

plus the weight on the top not changed and the flexible throat, gave this blade a little more kick..

i have used the EEII expander on my rubbers , check out the results..

look at the dome on this sheet of speedy spin premium !!!

Image

Image
so after all of that.. i am loving this blade..

i can hit it hard and still have the loop drop on the table... for a carbon blade... this isn't fast.. but the sweet spot on this blade is much bigger than a non carbon blade..

so i guess it equates to a between all around and off - blade with a great huge sweet spot !!!

btw the weight of the blade wouldn't be so much if i didn't order a straight handle... the flare is much smaller and the weight is like 7-9 grams lighter.. but i like the huge straight handle..

oh check out the racket clamp i made too... LOL.. no flames please.. super heavy duty clamp.. total cost under 10 bucks.. LOL..

No problems phamster, welcome to the forum!

How many layers of EEII did you use on that rubber?

that was about 2 1/2 layers...

the first one was heavy, and it absorbed it with in 1 hour..

then the second one was about 12 hours later...

and the last one was just a very thin layer because it was doming already, and i didn't want to have a hard time to glue the rubber on the bat..

hence the 2 1/2 layers..

i had to use my racket clamp... the first time to get the rubber to stay..

also used just basic best test rubber white cement.. not speed glue..

but after 2 playing sessions... the rubber when peeled off, was still domed !!!

now it is easier to glue the rubber on the blade.. even with speed glue.... it stays.. probably because of the 3 or 4 layers of glue on the fresh sponge..

Great report! The rubbers I have glued w/EE II did dome, some monster, some average, but the ones w/bigtime domes looked like the photos. I too had to use multi layers of rubber cement and a press to get it all to stay stuck.

I wonder if the EEII will be legal on the max Rubber sponge.
I noticed that the EEII makes the sponge thicker. Would this not be outside the Rules or can the sponge be any thickness?

I have seen people called in British League if they had a thick layer of glue on their rubber which took the total thickness over 4mm. Only by one umpire though.

Most "max" sponges are thinner than the actual maximum allowed to allow for speedglue expanding the sponge. For thicker topsheets, 2.15 mm sponge is often the thickest available, rounded up to 2.2 in some cases.

You can be called on over thick rubber (mosre than 4 mm total thickness) but probably won't happen below the international level, at least in the U.S.

anybody did the EEII on the donic rubbers? mainly desto F3?

i might want to try that.. but i know the desto F3 is fragile and didn't want to make a mistake if some body already has made that mistake..

thanks

I'd be very reluctant to put EEII on a soft tensor rubber like F3. EEII stretches the topsheet and softens the sponge and so does the tensor technology (by what means I'm unsure) so I'd think you'd risk oversoftening the sponge and overstretching the topsheet.

If you do, let us know what the results are as I've considered putting EEII on sheet of Joola Tango Ultra that haven't been properly tensioned, but I don't want to risk it on a $30-40 new sheet of rubber.
