Hey fans of chinese long pimples

Yesterday I tested an eacheng.net version of the Double Fish 1615. The length of the pimples is about 1.7 and diameter is about 1.7 mm. I remarqued a close pimples distance about 0.7 mm. The rubber is very compact and I glued it with 1.0 mm sponge on a T-11 Yinhe blade. The grip is quite low and so the pips have some disturbing effect. The weight is medium and the rubber should fit with many blades who has a harder touch.

Contrary to the opinions posted at noppentest.de the 1615 defends very controlled from mid and far distance. The throw was a bit high and the average of reversal was quite good. At the table when blocking passive the rubber hasn't got any control. A precise ball touch in the ascending phase of the incoming ball and active wrist movements when using the block counter and shoot the rubber plays with more control. Most distortion is there when a very active block is played. The ball comes down fairly quickly. Lateral chop blocks succeed easy but is relatively hamless for some players. Looping with the pimples works quite good and has a strange effect for the oponent.

The 1615 makes only sense for a game close the table when the balles are played very early. Sensitivity by spin is realtiv low and the pace can be quit high. Because of the close spacing pimples the 1615 is a very cool rubber for a hitting game.

A disadvantage of the rubber behaves when the ball is played to late and when the spin isn't estimated. At the table the throw is very flat which is good for fast balls and difficult for control.

The 1615 is suitable for players who attack close to table almost every ball by a high pace and hit the ball as soon as possible with a hard forehand attack.

Cheers, Martin

Thanks for the review Martinspin. I've been testing this rubber myself actually for about a week so far. I'm using it in OX however. It has some interesting properties, I'm still trying to work out

After seeing Amelnik( i think it is Leatherback) playing with 1615 0x on youtube, i decided to take
my Eacheng 1615 with 0.6 mm sponge and rip it off. And WOW..
VERY nice in every way. High reversal, good in block, chop, chopblock and hitting.
And good control. I have only tested 1615 0x 3-4 hours
on my Donic Appelgren allplay blade, but I continue my test.

When I first tried 1615 with sponge, I did not like it very much.
I might find it better than my D.Techs and Talon.

Cheers
Geddk

Haha! yes that is me!

in fact i broke my 1615 OX after 6 months on training....not bad, and i stuck on a giant dragon talon....ripped it off today and stuck a new 1615 OX on it....I prefer it WAY more....it may be more difficult to master, but i consider it a much higher level and effective pip in all areas

the 1615 with the sponge it comes with plays for me almost identical to P1-r. Hard sponge, fast, and a good chopping pip for far away, but no precise on control at the table!

I got 2 sheets of 1615 arrived yesterday from eacheng. One Ox and the other 0.6mm. Ordered them as a consequence of this thread and knowing a couple of good LP players locally who use it. Had never tried it, so I figured its worth a go. Not quite sure what to expect besides what I read here, but given it will be used on the Gergely, I hope it will be controllable. I've tried a few LP of late and I keep coming back to Pogo!

1615 is too small a sheet for my yinhe LQ-1, but from what I have read and the sheet I have it looks very nice.

i would imagine that on that blade a slow lp with a thick rubber base would be better,is the pogo thick or thin base?

Hi Dazzler,

Pogo's base is quite thin, although I've seen thinner. Pogo's pips are quite spongy though which helps take the "sting" out of a fast ball.

Nice review! 1615 is one of my favorite LPs and I still have a backup setup with a black 1615 ox... It's a very "accurate" rubber when it comes to active-on-the-table play. I could chop-block strong drives and attack weak balls efficiently.
