It looks like any sheet of (soon) illegal frictionless pips could be made legal by coating it with stickum.

Some people seem to be saying that their friction special came this way although mine definitely did not.

And if I clumsily spilled some solvent on the sheet and the stickum were accidentally removed ...

Well any sort of coating is technically illegal too, as it needs to be made of a single continuous type of rubber.
